Research CoE Lead – Birmingham – Strategic Competitive Intelligence Consultancy
The Company
My client is a well-established, premium competitive intelligence provider operating across the world of life sciences. They operate at the top of the pyramid – working on those big assets that pharma companies simply can't afford to fail so not only do they help drive the future performance of those individual pipeline products, they have a serious influence on the performance and perception of drug companies worldwide.
As part of the work my client undertakes, there is a real emphasis on more than just secondary data, but on true research to work out what is critical to commercial performance. The research set up and quality of the client engagement is key to well informed, holistic competitive intelligence. This dedication to rigorous research has led to the creation of a team of 15/20 Research Analysts and they are now looking for a leader for this Research Centre of Excellence, reporting directly to the CCO
The Role
The role responsibilities centre around:
- Team management and inspiring people leadership
- Oversee high quality secondary research to support consulting projects
- As a member of the leadership team you will ensure the integration of the research team into the wider business
- Commercial and strategic operations, working with internal stakeholders to ensure clients are provided with a top quality service
You
In order to be considered for this position you will:
- Have a life sciences background with an understanding of commercial pharma and how business and competitive intelligence can impact an organisation
- Have extensive management experience and have the personality to inspire and motivate
- Have an understanding of secondary research and different data sources
- Be commercially minded with a strategic growth focus
There aren't many roles like this in the industry. The responsibility to inspire and organise a large team without too much project involvement yourself is rare. As this is a brand new team, you will be accountable for and therefore rewarded for the performance and growth of this unit.
Culturally, it would suit someone wanting to avoid the corporate, bureaucratic red tape associated with some businesses operating in this space. The leadership team are people you'd get on with professionally but who you'd also want to go for a beer with (non-alcoholic drinks also apply).
NOTE* The Research CoE is located in Birmingham and to lead and inspire a team as required, you'd need to spend a minimum of 3 days per week in the office
