Principal Medical Writer - Medical Education – Buckinghamshire Hybrid – Great benefits package and working environment

Independently owned medical education agency that has been established for over 20 years. They are looking to hire a Principal Medical Writer role to help lead on delivery of projects.

The Role

  • To lead the scientific strategy and medical writing content on key accounts in partnership with the Programme Director.
  • To translate the client’s vision and objectives into engaging activities across channels that support behaviour change.
  • Leading on client/KOL discussions, advising, discussing challenges, and taking lead in pitches.
  • Managing the writing processes, developing new process when needed for high-quality content development.
  • Resource management and forward planning, regularly reviewing writing capacity and recommending how to deliver to deadlines using internal/freelance use, advising on recruitment needs.
  • Line managing, development and support, delivering induction programme for new writers as well as delivering job mentoring and some training sessions for writers/editorial teams.
  • Ensuring that estimates for writing support are accurate, and reconciliation reflects work done, working regularly with Programme team regarding areas that impact on estimates, timesheets and completion of work to the budget and schedule.

You

  • Should have at least 4-5 years experience in medical writing within healthcare communications.
  • Experience in creating content and delivering compelling stories.
  • Used to leading on brainstorming for proposals, new projects and novel solutions.
  • Able to advise on different styles of writing for a variety of audiences and channels.
  • Experience in reviewing junior writers' work and providing feedback and guidance.
  • Used to working very closely with the KOL, able to advise guide and push back when required.
  • Used to leading in pitches and able to convey scientific strategy and approach to the content.
  • Experience in managing teams, and recruitment needs.
  • Able to motivate and guide teams in a positive manner.
