The Importance of Work Environments for Employees in Healthcare Comms

According to research very!

In 2016/17 Mind Charity for better mental health carried out a Workplace Wellbeing Index study. Not surprisingly the research shows that organizations that created the right environment for their staff have a positive impact on employees’ health and wellbeing as well as job satisfaction and productivity levels. Dr Richard Jackson of the University of California Los Angeles School of Public Health has said that “We now know that developers and architects can be more effective in achieving public health goals than doctors”

In the same vein a workplace strategy expert and author Leah Stringer has documented that …because companies thrive on the innovation and abilities of their people...if employees are sick, overweight, stressed, sleep-deprived or disengaged, they prevent the company they work for from thriving and maintaining a competitive advantage in the marketplace. In-fact a 2017 study showed that FTSE 100 companies that prioritized employee engagement and wellbeing outperform the rest of the FTSE 100 by 10%.

In an era where 1 in 4 adults are affected by mental health issues, thankfully more and more employers are understanding their role and the effect that the mental and physical environment has on the productivity of their team. Our clients in the Healthcare Communications sector are really embracing the importance of looking after their teams’ wellbeing, understanding that a higher salary and career progression does not always resonate with helping people to decide to move jobs and choose a new company to work for. Factors such as flexibility, collaborative working, office design have more of a sway when it comes to choosing a new role and company. Offering high salaries but having a reputation for working people into the ground and having a non-supportive culture in a small sector rarely works (people talk). We have recently collated all the details on the working environments our clients offer and the list is impressive. Just take a look at what they are offering!
