Today marks 19 years since the launch of Carrot Recruitment. Thank you for being part of our journey!
As we celebrate this marker, it offers a great opportunity to reflect on the changes we have seen in this industry since we first launched in 2006.
Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies such as NICE (UK), IQWiG (Germany), and ICER (US) have tightened evidence requirements for reimbursement.
We have seen a greater demand for real-world data (RWD) professionals to support cost-effectiveness and long-term outcomes. Value-based pricing models are replacing traditional drug pricing, requiring manufacturers to demonstrate long-term benefits and cost savings.
Our latest round table event focused on the Market Access, HEOR and RWE market and what needs to change to make it easier for global firms to launch their products in the UK. We had a great mix of Market Access professionals from both industry and consultancy, resulting in some pragmatic solutions that could help to initiate real progress, helping to improve patient access to medicines. We are planning more of these round tables for 2025 and we use these events to help educate our clients on new and innovative discussions from thought leaders in our sector.
The integration of AI, machine learning, and big data analytics has led to increased demand for bioinformaticians, data scientists, and computational biologists. Machine learning and AI now accelerate drug discovery, optimise clinical trials, and personalise treatment plans. Digital consultations and remote patient monitoring have become the norm, especially post-COVID-19.
AI has enabled us to fine tune our services over the years to reach a new level of sophistication when matching candidates to roles. It has allowed us to streamline hiring processes, reduce bias, and ensure a better fit between talent and employers. The rise of remote work has enabled us to tap into talent pools across the globe, expanding reach and flexibility. We now work globally across the UK, Europe and the US across the health, life sciences and care sectors, launching our US offering in 2023.
The past two decades have seen a shift from traditional small-molecule drugs to biologics, including monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, and gene therapies. The growth of biologics, cell & gene therapy, and personalised medicine has created demand for highly specialised roles in R&D, manufacturing and regulatory affairs. We are seeing expansion in these areas within many of our client's growth plans.
Our mission at Carrot is to support clients by ensuring they have access to world-class talent within niche areas. Our business is structured to service across the full product lifecycle, from development to commercialisation and everything in between, with dedicated recruitment teams working exclusively across intricate functional areas.
The rise of new regulatory frameworks (GDPR, EU MDR, FDA updates) has increased the demand for regulatory affairs and compliance professionals. As well as this, growth in emerging markets like Asia-Pacific and the Middle East has led to more global regulatory expertise needs.
Our Founders came directly from earlier careers in Pharma, Biotech, MedTech, and Consultancy. Being fully plugged into our sectors has always been paramount to our identity and our dedicated teams operate exclusively within each function. This means we can offer a far stronger technical knowledge with deeper networks and can access talent more efficiently than generalist recruitment firms.
We are also seeing a rise in clients who are looking for contract workers for clinical trials, regulatory consulting, and biotech startups. There is also a culture amongst candidates of 'flexibility over stability' more professionals seek contract or project-based roles rather than traditional full-time employment.
We have a dedicated team working solely on contract recruitment roles, headed up by Founding Director, Debbie Anderson. The team offers a thorough process to ensure all required checks are carried out and documentation are in place before your contractor starts. We'll then be on hand throughout to support you both, making the journey as smooth and efficient as possible.
Our journey is one of passion and dedication, driven by a mission to make a tangible difference in the careers of professionals and the success of organisations.
